Established in 1993, Koç University is a non-profit, private university offering classes to study abroad and exchange visiting students from all of its undergraduate schools. Koç University has become one of the leading universities in Turkey.
Available courses are extensive and those offered in English include the following disciplines: Archaeology, Art History, Business Administration (Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, Operations and information Systems), Chemical and Biological Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, Economics, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, English Language and Comparative Literature, International Relations, History, Mathematics, Media and Visual Arts, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Russian, and Sociology. The Turkish Language and Society course which is offered every semester for non-native speakers cannot be taken as an audit.
Location The largest city in Turkey, Istanbul is truly diverse and multicultural: situated between Europe and Asia, Istanbul reflects both Eastern and Western influences from the past to the present. Today, Istanbul remains an important political and cultural center, and has been transformed into a major fine dining, shopping, and vacation destination. Koç University’s Main Campus is located at some distance from the center of Istanbul in the neighborhood of Sariyer, along the shores of the Black Sea in the European side of the city.
If you are accepted to study abroad at Koç University, you will apply on their website to obtain on-campus housing. At the Main Campus, residence halls are doubles or quads. At the West Campus, all rooms are doubles but do not have private bathrooms. At both campuses, residence halls have weekly housekeeping services and lounges with TVs, computers, and printers. All rooms are furnished with refrigerators, beds, closets, desks, chairs, bed stands, lights, a pillow, and a blanket, as well as access to wireless Internet, cable TV, and phone services.
The fall semester begins in early September and ends in late January; the spring semester begins in late January and ends in early June.
You must have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in order to apply. Before completing the Koç University visiting student or exchange application, all Fordham Study Abroad Application requirements must be satisfied.
