Studying abroad helped me to mature and become more independent all while allowing me to explore parts of the world that I have never seen before! The traveling was a learning experience in itself and was a one of kind education.

Program Testimonials
Studying abroad was an experience I will keep with me for the rest of my life. Not only was I able to make new friends I never would have imagined meeting, I was able to travel the world and experience various cultures. Living in an apartment in London was an amazing way to learn how to live on my own, as well as branch out and realize the best ways to delve into the city and explore the treasures of the London culture. Studying abroad taught me to live every day to the fullest and to not be afraid to branch out on my own if I want to experience something that others will not enjoy.

Program Testimonials
I think studying abroad has been one of the biggest eye openers I could have every imagined. It has helped me see the world and learn about different places. In addition, one of the classes I took helped me learn more about art and architecture and how to analyze it. It helped me when I was traveling and visiting different museums.

Program Testimonials
My study abroad experience has had a tremendous impact on my life and studies. I absolutely love traveling and being in London was a great location to have access to other countries to explore as cheap as possible. I have been to London twice before studying abroad and it helped me in realizing I would still like to live in London for a few years later in life. I love being active and being in a city that has great public transportation and that has a lot to do in the city, is such a fresh breath of air from the suburbia lifestyle I live back in Texas.

Program Testimonials
I do not go to Fordham, however, I became friends with my flatmates (all 5 of them were Fordham students) and will continue to keep in touch with them for the rest of my life. We had a great time together in London and I hope to hang out with them in NYC and vise verse in Dallas or Saint Louis. I love to travel and have these memories that will continue to live on through the stories I tell my friends and family and that I will continue to carry when I travel to other countries and cities.

Study abroad! This is  such an eye-opening experience that everyone should have in some way or another. Take advantage of your time there and never stop exploring even when you think you've seen it all, because trust me, you haven't!

My advice would be to be open to everything and not to plan too much before you get there. Make sure to take advantage of London and to see different areas in the UK instead of just traveling around the world.

What suggestions or advice would you give to a prospective study abroad student?
Program Testimonials
Traveling and studying abroad in this way is the opportunity of a lifetime. If given the chance, it is your responsibility to go out, learn all you can, and use that information to better yourself and society. You will learn so much about yourself and about the world. Be courageous and take advantage.
— Barbara DiTomasso, Spring 2019

I would suggest researching the local things to do in the city and country that you are studying abroad, i.e. finding the best markets, museums, cafes, bars, etc. I would make sure to look into the best directions to get to your destination, whether that be local or when you're traveling to another country. Also if you are able to travel to multiple countries back to back (such as going on spring break), plan accordingly to make it as smooth as possible. Find the best deals in the ways you travel whether that be by bus, plane, or train. Airbnb is a great option to stay in but there can be cheap hotels and hostels too. Make sure you have the right currency with you, while some cities are becoming contactless, there are still a lot of places that would rather have paper money. Personally, I like having the cash on me instead of worry about my card, the international charges, etc. but it's really up to you. Have fun, take it all in. It really does fly by quickly and you won't want to leave once it's the end of the semester. Cherish your time abroad!
